Expander Assortment
The most popular Pow-R Mole expander sizes are, 44 - 2 1/2" O.D., 44M - 3" O.D., 44-2 - 3 5/8" O.D., 44-2M - 4" O.D., 44-3 - 4 3/4" O.D., 44-4 - 5 3/4" O.D., 44-5 - 6 3/4" O.D., 44-6 - 8 1/4" O.D. to accommodate pipe from 1/2" to 6". These expanders can also be ordered with a wing blade on one side for pipe bursting. Larger expanders can be special ordered to your specifications and needs.

Push Cap Assortment
Always start the push with a blunt push cap. Using a blunt push cap with sharp edges will help the push rods overcome the tendency to glance off stones or other obstructions under the ground. The flat push caps come in two sizes, #39 - 1 13/16" O.D. and the #39A - 1 7/8" O.D. The #39A is recommended to be used with the C27 direction sonde holder, since it is the same O.D.
The #39RD Reposition Push Cap is used to reposition the push rod once it has been through the ground. It saves a considerable amount of time when a minor adjustment may be required in the position of the push rod.
The #39D Steering heads are used with the directional package. There are three grades of aggressiveness. These heads are not designed to change the path of the push rods once they have beed through the ground.

Pre-Expansion Collar
The Expansion Collar has been designed to eliminate "grab" or drag on the push rod when pushing in sticky clay or gumbo soils. They are also very beneficial in aiding directionally guided road crossings where rod rotation is essential to maintain grade and accuracy. After starting the first rod into the ground add the second rod, push the second rod forward one stroke then back up the slide housing and unscrew the second rod from the first rod. Slide the expansion collar on the second rod in front of the roller jaw and screw the second rod back onto the first rod and continue the bore.

Rod Return Adapter
An often overlooked, but important accessory for the Pow-R Mole Pusher-Puller, is the "Rod Return Adapter", part #43. In dense or rough soil conditions, it may not be possible to install a 3", 4" or larger pipe directly in one pull after the initial push across the road. In these conditions, it may be necessary to enlarge the hole in steps, using the Rod Return Adapter. The Rod Return Adapter is used behind the first expander to trail push rods as the hole is being enlarged. As the rods are removed in the operating trench on the pull back, simply add them on the rod on the other side of the road in the target trench. This way when the first expander is all the way through, disconnect the rods at the expander and rod return adapter, reconnect the rods at the machine. Now you can install the larger expander and are ready to pull again, rather than pushing the rods all the way through the hole to the target trench again.

Sight and Target
Using this sight and target, both the horizontal and vertical grade for the bore can be determined in one easy step. The sight and Target make aiming the rod at the target trench very simple.

Kellem Grip
Kellem grips are available in a range of sizes to fit on pipe or cable from 1/2" to 4" O.D. The Kellem grip is also available with a swivel eye for pulling cable and plastic pipe.

Wood Backing Blocks
The wood blocks are made of two 4X4's 24 inches long and nailed together side be side with two pieces of 3/4" ply wood, on opposite sides. A piece of rope is nailed accross the top for a grab handle.
The wood blocks make good backing to push against and can also be moved to the front of the machine to pull against for the pull back operation.
|
Reinforced Rear Backing Plate
The Special Reinforced Rear Backing Plate for the PD-6 and the PD-4 is designed to slip onto the top of the screw jack feet, to hold the brace legs apart and to provide a flat surface to push off of.
|
Rod Tote Box
There are two sizes of rod tote boxes. 42T holds 42 - 1 5/8" X 2 1/2' push rods and the 28T holds 28 - 1 5/8" X 2 1/2' push rods. The Rod Tote Boxes are a convenient way to keep the push rods together in one place and from rolling around while traveling.
|
Cable Lifting Harness
The Cable Lifting Harness is designed to lift the PD-6, PD-4 or either of the Rod Tote Boxes level. The Cable Lifting Harness will lift the rod tote box with the open end of the box slightly higher than the back.
